Standing on biblical convictions means choosing God’s truth even when it is not accepted, applauded, or respected by the culture around us. As believers, we cannot let public opinion determine what is right and wrong, because the Word of God is our final authority. Scripture reminds us, “we ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29, KJV), and that command calls us to remain faithful even when obedience to God brings misunderstanding, rejection, or opposition.
The Christian life is not about blending in with the world, but about being transformed by the truth of God’s Word. Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” In the same way, John 17:17 declares, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” When we hold to biblical convictions, we are choosing to stand on something unchanging in a changing world, trusting that God’s truth will always prove itself faithful.
Even when standing for biblical truth costs us popularity, comfort, or approval, we must continue to stand firm with grace and courage. A believer’s responsibility is not to weaken the message to make it more acceptable, but to live it out with humility and love. Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches us to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” If we stay rooted in God’s Word, we can stand boldly without compromise, knowing that He will honor those who honor Him.
It is easy when difficulty arises to let down your conviction to ease the blow of opposition. This is where the parable of the sower comes in (Matthew 13:3-9, Matthew 13:18-23, Mark 4:3-9, 13-20, and Luke 8:5-15). The ultimate test for your soul is how you maintain it in a day-to-day experience. If you think of your soul as the book of your life, where every action, every thought, every word is recorded, and that record will determine your eternal destiny. You carry that internal transcript inside, and when your soul leaves this world, only what is inscribed there will be at last revealed in the light.
Many today have absolutely no spiritual awareness or consciousness of what is really going on with their soul second by second. There is a complete ignorance and “choking” of the truth in the hearts of men because of the “cares of this life”, which makes it impossible for them to be awakened to their soul’s continual condition. Besides that, even in church, even those who profess religion are really not “that interested”. Don’t forget the scripture proclaims, every man is right in his own eyes. (Proverbs 21:2)
People would rather have a one-size-fits-all belief that they buy one time, put it on once and a while but still retain the rights to their own life. This is done in complete foolishness and ignorance of the condition and reprocussions that will effect their eternal soul.
What and how life will truly end for each individual lies in the responsibility that each one takes for their own actions or inactions, but ultimately every human has what is called a conscience, and what you do with that conscience, whether you sear it or keep it tender and pliable before the God of truth, will serve you accordingly and result in your final destination based on your day-to-day life’s decisions or indecisions.
