My name is Pastor Anastasius, and my life is living proof that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.
Before I came to Christ, I battled drug and substance abuse for many years. My life seemed to have no direction or purpose until, in 2008, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my Lord and personal Savior. Through His mercy, God completely transformed my life. He restored my dignity, gave me hope, and placed within me a burden to reach those who were suffering as I once had.
My late father always desired that I join an orthodox seminary. Although I did not follow that path during his lifetime, after his passing in 2015, I experienced a deep conviction that God was calling me into ministry. I began preaching the Gospel among people struggling with drug and substance addiction, sharing my own testimony of deliverance. By the grace of God, many have turned to Christ, broken free from addiction, and begun new lives of faith and hope.
As my wife and I continued serving our community, God opened our eyes to another painful reality. We encountered girls whose dreams had been shattered by female genital mutilation (FGM), children forced into early marriages, women trapped in gender-based violence, widows subjected to wife inheritance, and children and persons living with mental disabilities who had suffered sexual abuse and neglect. We also met elderly people without access to basic medical care and orphaned children lacking food, school supplies, and essential support.
These encounters transformed our ministry into a broader mission of compassion and justice. They inspired us to establish Furaha Ya Africa Foundation, a name that means “Happiness of Africa.” Our prayer is to restore hope where there is despair and to demonstrate the love of Christ through both the Gospel and practical action.
Today, our mission is to defend the vulnerable, restore dignity to survivors, advocate for biblical values that uphold the sanctity of life and the worth of every person, and provide practical support to those living in desperate circumstances. We work to rescue girls from harmful traditional practices, support survivors of abuse, care for orphans and vulnerable children, assist the elderly with food and medical care, and strengthen communities through education, advocacy, and the hope found in Jesus Christ.
This work is not without great challenges.
Many of the harmful cultural practices we oppose have existed for generations and are deeply rooted in tradition. Speaking against them often brings hostility, rejection, ridicule, and resistance from individuals who believe these practices should continue. At times, our team has been viewed as interfering with cultural customs rather than protecting lives and defending human dignity.
Another significant challenge is the limited financial and institutional support available for grassroots organizations. Like many community-based ministries, we operate with very limited resources. Funding for rescue missions, emergency shelter, medical care, counseling, school supplies, food distribution, and awareness campaigns is often insufficient.
Despite the urgent needs we encounter, support from organizations, development partners, and government agencies has not always matched the scale of the challenges facing vulnerable communities.
Yet these obstacles have not weakened our resolve. Instead, they have strengthened our faith and reminded us that every life rescued, every child protected, every family restored, and every soul won for Christ is worth every sacrifice.
Our greatest vision is to establish a Rescue and Restoration Centre where children at risk, survivors of abuse, victims of harmful cultural practices, and vulnerable women can find safety, counseling, education, healthcare referrals, vocational empowerment, and the love of Christ. We envision a place where broken lives are restored, future leaders are nurtured, and hope is reborn.
We also envision expanding our outreach so that no child goes hungry because of poverty, no orphan misses school because they lack basic supplies, no elderly person is denied care because of financial hardship, and no girl is forced to choose between her safety and her future.
We believe lasting transformation happens when the Gospel is preached alongside compassionate action. As Scripture reminds us, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” (James 2:17). We are committed to proclaiming Christ while demonstrating His love through practical service.
To churches, organizations, government agencies, community leaders, and individuals who share this vision, we extend an open invitation to partner with us. Together, we can rescue the vulnerable, restore hope to broken families, challenge harmful practices through education and compassion, and build stronger communities founded on justice, dignity, and the love of Christ.
Our prayer is simple: that every child may grow up safe, every woman may live free from violence and oppression, every elderly person may be treated with dignity, and every person we encounter may come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
This is our calling. This is our mission. This is the vision of Furaha Ya Africa Foundation.
“Learn to do good; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.
