Adversity – “Faint Not”

Mark 4:16-17 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

Truth is where it starts; it’s whatever is on the inside.  Whatever is the plague of your own heart.  Whenever there is no oil.

The INWARD PARTS, that’s your reins, your conscience.  It is when you latch on to prayer, to the scriptures, and everything that is right.  When you have that in the “hidden parts,” “The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.” (Ecclesiastes 9:17)

Purge me, Wash me

Psalms 51, when you pray that way, “God, I’m a sinner, I was born a sinner.  God, you have everything on me; this is the wrong that I have done.”

With that, you’re halfway right.  It is God who will give you life. When you read and pray Psalms 51, you will get the flip side, Psalms 15. Selah.

Create in me a clean heart.

If you have no root, you’re weak, and you faint.  You must be grounded in Matthew 7.  People today don’t live the Bible literally.  Where is the world? That is self, that’s you.

Deep calleth unto deep

Self, you’re supposed to be in the flame and take your burning here.  The lusts of other things, they come to choke you out.  Burn all your bridges; whatever bridges you don’t burn, you will go back to.  Peter said, “I go a fishing.”.  There are people who have no shame; their conscience is seared, and they are “holier than thou” people.

Your conscience is a good thing, be not many masters, judging others, you’re going to hurt yourself.  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart.

Broken – Humble – Obedience

Paul died as the chief of sinners.  Always be truthful, say, God, I have so much sin, but my heart is fixed. Don’t quit! Go in the way of repentance.

This is not just for the unconverted or the so-called “new believer” but for the Pastor, the evangelist, the missionary, the Apostle.  A revival of those who have been in church for twenty or thirty years, at the altar pleading with God to help them and bring them back to their first love.

You have to burn self, “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die,” The right spirit is repentance and obedience.  The whole human race has been destroyed by the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.  Never be stubborn, always lift up your hands and open the lips of your soul and cry to God, saying, “All this sin I have hid in my heart, and my sacrifice has been tainted.”  “I played so many games in church, but now, this time I will lay it down and give up”… then… face to face.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.  13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. (1Corinthians 13:12-13)

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. (Proverbs 24:10)
